Thomas spend much of his time in later life and all his money fighting a family and legal case to defend his wifes Sarah’s claim to her inherted portion of her ancestral family estate at Stone Farm, St. Peters, Isle of Thanet.
Thomas Hiller wrote a lengthy and beautifully illustrated history of Stone Farm as a record and to argue a case for her to inherit her fair share as he saw it.
Lawyer’s fees seemingly ovcame Thomas’s ability to pay and he ended up spending time in the King’s Bench debtor’s prison.
